Generation Y
Born between 1977-1994, Generation Y is characterized as the children of the Internet generation with an annual spending power of $150 billion. Comprised of a population of an estimated 60 million, Generation Y is noted as being tech savvy and socially connected. Events such as September 11, 2001 have formed their ideals and "live for today" attitudes. They maintain constant connection with friends through text messaging, chat, social networks and online communities. Generation Y supports philanthropic efforts and is often noted for being environmentally aware. When marketing to Generation Y, be honest and upfront. This generation is willing to be very brand loyal to honest advertising approaches.
