With the advent of the Internet as an accessible consumer resource, traditional marketing media has become circumvented with online advertising and marketing as a way to expand a company's customer base. Online advertising refers to advertising on the Internet and includes such media as banner ads, websites, email marketing, and wallpaper ads. Spamming is an illegal form of online advertising that involves sending numerous, repetitve electronic messages to a consumer without an option to opt-out. Online advertising has established itself as a sustainable marketing technique that will continue to transform with the acceptance of new media like paid blogs.
