Middleware

Middleware are programs and applications that act as the bridge between different processes. Basically, middleware is the software entity house between a computer's operating system and the applications on both sides of the system. Examples of middleware include ASP, .NET, PHP, J2EE, JSP, Servlets, Javascript, ColdFusion and Websphere.
