Viral Marketing
Viral marketing is word-of-mouth marketing over the Internet that facilitates the spread of information exponentially, like a virus. Typically, viral marketing is used to increase brand awareness and grow a customer base by encouraging people to pass information onto their friends. Viral marketing campaigns can be seeded in blog posts, chat rooms, email, online message boards, or any other type of online media. A viral marketing campaign is low in cost, yet high in receivability, making it very efficient. Viral marketing is also seen as reputable by consumers because these recommendations and commentary are not paid for by the company selling the product or service being discussed.
